Canon Laser Beam Printer Engines, Holding 65% of the Global Market and Now Manufactured at the Misato Plant.

Laser scanner units are the core components of laser beam printers, as well as of digital facsimile and copying machines. Since 1998, with the objective of integrating production for these vital components, they have been manufactured at Canon Electronics' Misato Plant. In addition to supplying almost all polygon mirrors, the key components of these units, we are stepping up efforts to establish mass-production capabilities for the units themselves. When this work is completed, high-speed, high-image-quality and ultracompact laser scanner units from the Misato Plant will be supplied to all Canon Group puroduction facilities around the world. To this end, we are expanding the operations of the Misato Plant and setting up the necessary equipment and facilities at a fast pace.

Canon Electronics' polygon processing takes advantage of Canon's unique ultraprecise processing technologies. These components are assembled in laser scanner units in our production cells,which have micron-level adjustment instruments. Thanks to state-of-the-art equipment and proven manufacturing technologies, we have achieved significant cost reductions in our business machine components. In this area, we are involved in new technology development and product design as well as in manufacturing.
